Interior Panels

We offer Pre-Cut All Wood Interior Panels
instead of sheetrock.
These panels take considerably less time to install and cost less
than sheetrock.
Our Interior Panels make easy work of finishing the inside
of
the dome.
They’re made from 1"x6" tongue & grooved, kiln dried
Engleman spruce
and pine and we sort through the lumber to eliminate gray streaks, large open
knots and sap wood to give them a crisp, clean look.
When delivered, the panels are ready to go up in one piece
and cover the
complete triangle. Then, the edges are covered with batten strips for final
trim.
Our competitors have even complemented us on the
interior
design of these
panels.
The photos above
display examples of the interior
design appeal of our
interior panels. They look spectacular when your geodesic dome home is
completed. In the photo (second from the left), dome school participants
have just attached an interior panel on the framework they completed and
are marveling at how easy it was.
The interior triangular
panels are made of 1"x6" tongue & grooved, kiln
dried Engleman spruce. This spruce is a very light wood and will not yellow
with age nearly as much as pine. We also sort through all the lumber,
eliminating most gray streaks, decayed areas, large open knots and sap wood.
The panels are
prefabricated by cutting a group of the 1"x6" boards into
triangles. A backer board is added connecting the boards, making them a
one-piece triangle. When they are put up on the dome, a trim piece is put
on over the joint, allowing for expansion and contraction and hiding other
joint imperfections.
Our interior panel
systems do not require any bracing within the triangles.
They are engineered to free-span each triangle saving you much time and
a lot of materials.
We do not make an
interior panel for the skylight window triangles. We
supply you with matching spruce boards for finishing the interior from the
window over to the interior 2x4 strut. Exact amounts are based on the
number of skylights.
These interior panels can
be left natural to minimize the chemicals in your
living environment or you can use a "low VOC" type water based wood
sealer which will darken it slightly. A stain can be used; however, we
suggest a light color or white so the inside of your dome stays bright.
Again, a "low VOC" stain is wiped on, then wiped off and two coats of the
water based sealer are brushed on. This gives a beautiful luster to the
finish. All of these applications can be easily applied to the panels while
they are on the floor.
